These ‘Missing Charts’ Reveal That Fossil Fuel Use Is Still Increasing

To address the twin threats of climate change and ocean acidification, nearly every nation has promised to reduce fossil fuel burning.

But so far, humanity keeps burning ever more. Last year we did it again, burning an all-time record amount.

Let’s give Jerry Brown the last word: If we want hospitable climate and oceans, the fossil fuel data suggests that our efforts so far are far too little. In the words of California Governor Jerry Brown, “You can’t do too much to sound the alarm because so far the response is not adequate to the challenge.” Continue reading

Fossil Fuel Use is Rising Like There is NO Tomorrow–July 27, 2017

If you think that 25+ years of global climate change policy meetings (IPCCs & COPs), and today’s much discussed growth in clean energy and efficiency are reducing global fossil fuel usage and thus greenhouse gas emissions then you are mistaken. Continue reading

New Study: What’s Scarier than the Permian Extinction? Burn All the Fossil Fuels to Find Out

“If we burn all the fossil fuels “not only will the resultant climate change be faster than anything Earth has seen for millions of years, the climate that will exist is likely to have no natural counterpart, as far as we can tell, in at least the last 420 million years.” — Gavin Foster, Professor of Isotope Geochemistry at the University of Southampton Continue reading
